Professional Building Inspectors, Inc. (PBI) was formed in 1972 to meet the demands of many purchasers and law firms we were working with in the construction and real estate fields. The initial goal of the company was to provide clients with sufficient information before they entered into a major real estate transaction. Since then we have expanded our services to include environmental testing, thermal imaging analysis, water intrusion, defect recognition, and problem solving.
All real property inspections are performed by New York State licensed inspectors and conform to New York State Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. Our inspectors were awarded the designation of Certified Real Estate Inspector (CRI) which is the National Association of Home Inspector’s highest degree of competency and proficiency. In addition, our inspectors are licensed home inspector instructors.
Professional Building Inspectors provides third-party testing with full environmental services including cause and origin determination, areas of contamination surveys (including, but not limited to, Cyclex, bulk, and swab testing) and if requested, environmental impact and remediation plans. All environmental assessments are conducted in accordance with the guidelines established by the American Congress of Government Industrial Hygienists, the Indoor Air Quality Association, Federal EPA guidelines and the New York City Department of Health, Division of Epidemiology.
Our company offers thermal imaging by certified Building Science Thermographers, lead and asbestos inspections by New York State/EPA licensed professionals, and EIFS inspections by certified inspectors. The staff at PBI maintains their leadership position in these areas through their field experience and industry-sponsored continuing education and recertification.
Professional Building Inspectors, Inc. is prepared to set up on site inspections and testing seven days a week and written reports are e-mailed the same day if requested. Our turn-around time for laboratory results is normally within four to five business days. All laboratory testing is performed in independent, third party, federally accredited EMLAP laboratories.
